$100K EXTRA Win Leaves Pets Baffled

Samantha R. of East Selkirk is $100,000 richer thanks to her decision to add EXTRA to her ticket!

“I always add EXTRA. It’s only a dollar. And you never know!” she explained when talking about her win on the January 7, 2025 draw.

“When I realized I had won, I was in the break room at work. I just said, ‘Oh my God. Oh My GOD. OH MY GOD!’ I kept saying it, louder and louder. I started walking back and forth, and people were looking at me, so after a while I moved to another room. I was jumping up and down and screaming!”

Whenever a player adds EXTRA, a 7-digit EXTRA number is randomly generated and included on their ticket. The last 6 digits of Samatha’s EXTRA number from the January 7, 2025 draw were an exact match to the winning EXTRA number of 3411048, which won her the game’s second-from-top prize of $100,000.

“I always thought that if I won, I would have more composure. But I really did not,” she laughed while picking up her prize. “I haven’t had a good night’s sleep since I got the call!”

Samantha explained how others reacted to her win. “At work, everyone is so happy for me. They are so excited they know someone who won!”

Samantha’s excitement about the win also had interesting effects on her pets.

“This morning as I was waiting to come to this win appointment, I was going around the house picking up each of our cats, saying, ‘Guess where I’m going?! Guess where I’m going today?!’ I was so excited, and they just looked at me with big eyes. Then after a while they started running away from me. They don’t have any idea what is going on, but for us this is really so exciting!”

On January 7, two other EXTRA players were also lucky enough to match the last 6 digits of their own tickets’ EXTRA numbers. A total of three $100,000 prizes were won on the same draw date: one in Calgary, one in Regina, and Samantha’s prize in Manitoba.
