Virden couple take home $1 Million MAXMILLIONS windfall!

Tracy P. and David S. of Virden took home one of two MAXMILLIONS prizes awarded in Manitoba on the April 1 LOTTO MAX draw.

The happy winners purchased their ticket from the Valleyview Co-Op Gas Bar on 114-7th avenue south in Virden on the day of the draw. They discovered the win a couple of days later back at the same store.

“I went to the self-checker and thought it was $10,000,” recalled Tracy, noting that she didn’t have her glasses on. “I was very happy about it.”

Tracy gave her ticket to the cashier to validate it and discovered she’d missed a few zeroes.

“The young kid said, ‘Oh,’” she recalled with a chuckle. “I asked him if it was more than $10,000, and he told me I won a million dollars!”

Tracy went out to the car to tell her husband to come into the store. “He didn’t want to, but I told him he had to because we won a million dollars!”

Shaking from the news, Tracy gave her ticket to David.

“It was unbelievable,” he said while claiming the prize. “I didn’t feel anything; it was just so surreal.”

The excited couple had just booked a trip to Hawaii prior to their windfall but look forward to more trips in the future.

“You know we’ve been dreaming about winning,” Tracy said. “But this is better than I thought it’d be!”
